Step-Down Accordion Folds

There are many ways to boost the appeal of your brochures, mailers and other printed collateral material.  For eye-catching, separate-yourself- from-the-pack folding solutions, consider one of the many variants of step-down accordion folding.  Below are examples of some products that we can do for you.

Technical Tips
When planning step-down accordion folded products, it's always wise to involve your post press services company early in the planning stage.

These products require a lot of expertise and professional guidance is strongly recommended.  In the case of the "Stagger-Step" fold, this is an absolute requirement.

Here are a few more guidelines that will help ensure your project's success:

Guidelines

  • Plan your folds with the grain.
  • Score your project prior to folding for 80# text weight stock or heavier.
  • Don't use stock thicker than 10 points
  • Avoid color breaks if possible.
  • Don't use varnish.  Varnish buildup on fold rollers will cause fold slippage and unacceptable fold variance.  UV coating is OK.
  • If a "tab-like" effect is desired, allow at least 1/16" margin on both sides of your vertical copy.
