Many graphic arts companies prefer repeat business. If you’re in this group, it may make sense to search for product specific small format folded pieces that can serve as a stable base of business for you month after month. Look for marketplace applications such as:
-
Folded information sheets for mounting on tops or sides of bottles and boxes
-
Pharmaceutical products
Instruction sheets accompanying small parts and pieces
-
Piggyback coupons on flyers, magazine inserts or similar printed products
-
Other printed products that require large amounts of information in small areas.
layflat is important for “downstream” automation
Most bulky miniature folded products must lie flat so they are automation compatible in post-bindery operations. Rickard Bindery has several ways of ensuring that your products lie flat, either with or without glue.
PATENTED SOLUTION
A “non-jamming” RTA (right turn angle) multi-fold outsert allows the overlapping end of a printed paper leaflet to be glued which won’t spring apart during packaging operations. The resulting self-contained pieces can then be affixed directly onto many products, often eliminating the need for cartons altogether.
RTA OUTSERT TECHNICAL TIP
Thick paper bulk has significant “memory” which may cause products to prematurely open when held shut with only ez-release glue. Therefore, permanent glue is often a wiser bindery choice. However, since permanent glue tears paper fibers when opened, leave the panels receiving glue blank when planning jam-free RTA folded pieces.
