Inline Folding & Attaching

Good use of folding technology can improve a printed product’s effectiveness. For example, iron cross folds add intrigue as each opened panel reveals more of the intended message.

Want to do even better? Attach an insert somewhere on your folded piece to further enhance its attractiveness and utility.

 Nearly Anything Goes
What types of folded pieces can have attached products? Almost anything, as long as there is a “closed” fold, which allows the carrier piece to be automatically fed. Most gate folds, rolls folds, right angle folds, pop-up folds and specialty folding techniques work with inline attaching. (Be careful of combining accordion folds though.)

What Can Be Attached?
Just about anything can be attached to folded paper. Electronic media (CDs, disks), money (coins, bills), cards (credit, telephone, membership), stamps, postcards, business reply devices (cards, envelopes), magnets, product sample packets (shampoo, aspirin) and many other types of product inserts can be attached inline at high speeds with excellent placement precision.

Tech Tips:
When designing products with attached product inserts, make sure that your “carrier” piece is on 7-point stock or thicker. Also, leave 1/4” clearance around the product insert (1/2” for nestled iron crosses).
