Marketers are constantly looking for ways to improve response rates on direct mail campaigns, or attract the attention of consumers in retail settings. Attaching items to a paper carrier is a great way to accomplish both. At Rickard Bindery, we can attach almost anything to folded paper for retail use, direct mail piece or other product.
In addition to plastic cards, magnets and CD/DVD disks, here are a few other items we can attach:
Product/Pharmaceutical Inserts
Pharmaceutical packaging involves the handling of extremely small products. For that reason, attaching is often the most efficient way to include pharmaceutical inserts to the inside or outside of promotional pieces.

A wide range of items - such as the magnet shown here - can be attached to folded carriers automatically at Rickard Bindery. |
At Rickard Bindery, we can miniature-fold pharmaceutical inserts down to 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" and attach them automatically using ez-release glue to either the inside or outside of a folded carrier or stitched booklets.
Product Sample Packets
Product samples are a great way to give mail pieces, promotions and presentation materials a second look. Sample packets can include products such as chewing gum, spices, seeds, makeup, aspirin and shampoo.
Helpful Planning Tips
• Carrier pieces that will include attached product inserts should be 7-point stock or thicker. This bulk helps the carrier keep its shape during subsequent folding processes.
• While the placement of attached products is accurate, it isn't exact. We recommend leaving a ¼" placement clearance around product inserts. This may vary depending on the size of the insert, the carrier and the placement location, so ask Rickard Bindery for help when designing your applications.
The Rickard Advantage
At Rickard Bindery, we can perform a variety of processes in conjunction with attaching. Remoist and seam gluing; miniature, oversize and specialty folding; perfing; scoring; and saddle stitching can all be combined with our accurate, high-speed attaching capabilities to create an efficient production workflow.
