Paste binding can be performed inline during folding, making it both efficient and economical.

The Skinny…Literally
Paste binding is typically used to create thin booklets of 16-pages or less, making it an ideal solution for coupon books, schedules, instruction sets and tags for bottles and other packaging. Pasted booklets with 12 pages or less can be trimmed inline during folding for even greater production efficiency. Common applications include products packaged into food or children's products, where metal stitching wire can pose a health risk.
Layout tip: Cold-set adhesives are typically used for paste binding, and they spread during production. For that reason, keep copy at least 3/8” away from the gutter to ensure it won’t be obscured.
Planning tip: While paste binding is efficient for all applicable projects, certain layouts work better than others. If your project utilizes six- or 16-page layouts, they may require some expert planning help from your friends at Rickard Bindery to make sure production goes smoothly.
