This RTA clamshell miniature folded product was produced by Rickard Bindery. |
Despite easy Internet access, consumers still appreciate having complete product information packaged along with their purchases. Many products including cosmetics, pesticides and electronic devices often include tightly-packed, small format instruction sheets.
However, converting and inserting these pieces can pose a challenge.
One manufacturing solution available is RTA (right-turn angle) miniature folding. Unlike standard small format/miniature folding, RTA folding usually ends with a knife fold, which allows for finished product without any open edges. This results in three primary benefits:
1) Attractive appearance that many designers favor
2) Excellent machinability for either inserting or onserting equipment
3) Tight, compact final size, easily fitting inside blister packs, boxes or cartons
Happy as a Clam(shell)
Here are a few helpful planning details:
- FDA-approved glues can be used during the production process, allowing for the product to be used in items such as pet foods, children’s toys and cosmetics.
- RTA clamshell pieces can have up to 90 panels, with a minimum panel size of 1-1/8”. This allows your customers to pack plenty of copy onto their instruction and information sheets and perhaps have room left over for a coupon or other offer. This is especially useful if the piece is part of a retail display package.
- Common packing options include: trays, rubber bands and row packing in cartons. Communicating your customer’s packing needs may help your bindery reduce turnaround times and production costs.
