DECEMBER 22, 2000:
Rotary Scoring And Plow Folding Equipment Increases Company Capacity
Chicago, IL – Rickard Bindery
recently installed two brand new bindery machines to convert more products
printed on thick stock. The first, a Rollem rotary scorer, will
eliminate/reduce cracking on folds and increase folding accuracy.
The second, a Dick Moll plow folding machine, is for converting printed
products such as pocket folders, ticket wallets, portfolios and more.
The rotary scorer operates at
speeds up to 15,000 per hour and can process sheets as large as 42” and
as thick as 28pt. It will score, perforate and micro-perf a wide
range of patterns. Perforations can be “interrupted” and
micro-perfs are laser compatible. It is appropriate for brochures,
pamphlets and covers at or near letterpress die scoring quality. The
plow folding machine – Rickard Bindery’s third – was purchased to
increase the company’s folding and gluing capacity of thick, large
sheets.
“This equipment significantly
increases our ability to handle large volumes of products printed on thick
paper,” says Randy Doman, Customer Service Manager. “Rickard
Bindery will continue to make capital investments as long as these
investments help us say, ‘Yes, we can!’ to our customers.”
