Rickard Bindery Installs Glue Detection System
Infrared Sensor Verifies That Glue Has Been Applied to Product

Chicago, IL– Rickard Bindery, an industry-leading binding and finishing company, proudly announces the installation of a new glue detection system that verifies whether glue has been applied to a product.

Glue adhesion is a common problem in the industry. As pieces go through the folding machines, the glue heads get clogged no matter how diligent the operator. Thanks to a recent technological innovation, operators now have the ability to look for spots of glue rather than lines of glue.

“All glue machines have a tendency to misfire and as a result, some material doesn’t get glue on it,” says Jack Rickard, President of Rickard Bindery. “This glue detection system, however, is equipped with an infrared sensor that allows you to see that glue has been put on the sheet of paper.”

The glue detection system, which was built to the company’s specifications, represents an important step for Rickard Bindery due to the major role gluing plays in its operation.

For particular jobs, this technological advancement represents a key shift in the level of security Rickard Bindery can provide. Not all jobs will need this level of monitoring. Specifically, for printers working with product requiring 100% glue accountability the infrared system should be requested.
